SENIOR QUALITY ASSURANCE AUDITOR (COUNTY AUDITOR) ACTIVELY RECRUITED

Job Summary Proceeding as a Senior Quality Assurance Auditor within the County Auditor’s office, you will ensure adherence to applicable auditing standards, including generally accepted government auditing standards (GAGAS) and the bureau’s Audit Policy and Procedures Manual (APPM). Your day‑to‑day responsibilities include performing quality assurance reviews on engagement work papers, conducting limited testing on action plans, supporting the annual risk assessment and audit plan, providing training on automated audit management software, and tracking staff continuing education and independence attestations. Location & Compensation Cook County Administration, 69 W. Washington (Downtown Chicago). Salary: $75,704 – $83,570 yearly. Shift: 8:00 A.M. – 4:00 P.M. (Full‑time). Minimum Qualifications Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or a directly related field. At least four (4) years of experience in auditing, accounting, finance, compliance, risk control, or a related domain. Valid driver’s license. Preferred Qualifications Experience conducting audits under GAGAS and the Institute of Internal Auditors’ Global Internal Audit Standards. Experience conducting performance and/or operational audits of government entities. Knowledge of the audit management software used by the bureau. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong understanding of GAGAS, IIA Global Internal Audit Standards, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Ability to ascertain compliance with laws, ordinances, and regulations. Ability to identify possible errors, irregularities, and illegal acts. Skill in interacting with bureau personnel to resolve audit issues. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Visio. Willingness to travel to various work locations across the County. Mentor junior staff and colleagues. Physical Requirements Sedentary work requiring occasional lifting of up to 10 pounds. Work involves sitting most of the time with occasional walking or standing. Requires at least a 10‑hour workday.
