Young Person Independent Living Officer

Hours 17.5 per week (Between Monday to Saturday, 8am to 8pm) Contract Temporary 6 month FTC At MSV Housing we’re committed to making sure our customers have good quality safe homes and the Young Person Independent Living Officer is key to making this happen. We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic individual to join our established team. Reporting to our Foyer Manager, the YPILO provides support to vulnerable young people by ensuring regulatory compliance, safeguarding, and delivering tailored, person‑centred support that promotes independence and personal growth. They collaborate with key stakeholders and promote the Foyer model to help young people thrive through structured opportunities and mentoring. In addition, we seek candidates who have a passion for advocating on behalf of people and communities. Responsibilities Conduct initial and comprehensive assessments for at‑risk children and young people, providing direct support, crisis intervention, and referrals to appropriate services, including for mental health and neurodiversity needs. Manage safeguarding cases, maintain accurate records, attend statutory meetings, and ensure timely updates to support plans, risk assessments, and case notes. Build strong relationships with internal teams, external partners, and statutory agencies to coordinate care, improve outcomes, and ensure effective service delivery. Guide residents through licence agreements, monitor rent and occupancy charges, support benefit access, and assist with move‑on accommodation and tenancy sustainment. Coach and mentor residents using a strengths‑based approach, promote education, training, and employment, and ensure adherence to MSV and Foyer policies and procedures. Qualifications Good standard of education with a minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at Grade C or above, including Maths and English. Experience of advocacy on behalf of customers. Experience of working with customers with mental health and vulnerabilities. Good understanding of mental health and vulnerable customer needs, including trauma‑informed practice.
