Mechanical Assembler I

Location: San Diego, CA 92121

Shift: 1st Shift | Monday–Friday | 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM |Pay Rate: $18.27/hour

2nd shift | Mon – Fri 2:30pm 11:30pm | Pay rate $20.10/hr

Position Overview

We are seeking a Mechanical Assembler I to join a manufacturing team supporting the assembly of mechanical and electronic products. This position is responsible for assembling mechanical components, subassemblies, sheet metal enclosures, and cable assemblies while following engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and work instructions. The ideal candidate has mechanical assembly experience, strong attention to detail, and enjoys working in a fast-paced production environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assemble mechanical components, chassis, drawers, enclosures, racks, and subassemblies.
• Read and interpret assembly drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and work instructions.
• Perform hand soldering, wire harnessing, cable routing, and cable harness assembly.
• Conduct routine go/no-go testing on circuits, components, and mechanical assemblies.
• Set up and use test equipment and hand tools to verify product quality.
• Document test results and maintain production records as required.
• Troubleshoot assembly issues and perform repair or rework when necessary.
• Follow quality standards, safety procedures, and production schedules.

Qualifications

Required:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous manufacturing or mechanical assembly experience.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, and assembly instructions.
• Experience using hand tools and basic testing equipment.
• Basic math, reading, and writing skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.

Preferred:

• IPC-A-610 Certification.
• Experience with hand soldering, wire wrapping, and cable harness assembly.
• Experience in electronics or electro-mechanical manufacturing.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods during the shift.
• Frequently lift and move materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
• Perform repetitive hand movements and fine motor tasks throughout the workday.
