divh2Labor RN - Obstetrics - PRN Nights/h2pMaryville, IL 62062/ph3Overview/h3pSalary Range $30.00 - $53.70 Hourly Position Type PRN (12 Hours) Job Shift Nights Category Nursing/ph3Description/h3pJob Summary: Practices autonomously and in accordance with professional nursing standards, within the parameters of the Illinois Nurse Practice Act, and within the policies and procedures of Anderson Hospital./ppJob Responsibilities:/pulliSupports patients rights and responsibilities, including respect of cultural, ethical, and religious diversity./liliResponds appropriately to infant security, hospital code and patient alarms, including required documentation./liliUses effective communication skills with patients, staff, other departments, physicians, families and visitors./liliProvides age appropriate and population specific patient care in a safe, skillful, accurate and efficient manner to newborn, adolescent and adult populations./liliCompletes documentation accurately and in a timely manner, according to hospital policy and procedures./liliAssesses patient and family learning needs and provides ongoing education and evaluation. Documents readiness to learn, teaching, barriers and outcomes./liliEffectively utilizes the nursing process to ensure optimal nursing care and patient outcomes./liliEngages in activities to expand and/or enhance the professional nursing role, which includes integration of research and evidence based practice./liliDemonstrates flexibility to meet department, organization and patient/family needs./liliDelegates responsibilities to appropriate health care team members and monitors their activity and work performance./liliFacilitates and coordinates discharge planning based on patient needs./liliDemonstrates competency in antepartum and intrapartum care of low and high-risk obstetric patient populations which may include:/liulliCompetency in waived screening procedures./liliCompetency in fetal monitor interpretation./liliCompetency with circulating at vaginal and cesarean births./liliCompetency in care of the patient receiving epidural, spinal or general anesthesia./liliDemonstrates competency in providing care during obstetric emergencies to include: shoulder dystocia, hemorrhage, abruption, fetal distress, emergency cesarean section, and hypertension in pregnancy./liliDemonstrates proficiency in providing post-delivery/recovery care which may include promoting family bonding and initial newborn breastfeeding within one hour of birth./liliDemonstrates competency in care of the family experiencing perinatal loss/liliMay be assigned as charge nurse which includes the following duties:/liulliMaintain patient flow through the unit./liliAssign and adjust staffing based on patient acuity./liliComplete RN Charge check off list in a timely manner./liliAct as a liaison with the nursing house supervisor./liliDemonstrate conflict management and problem solving skills in dealing with staff, patients, families, physicians and other departments./li/ul/ulh3Qualifications/h3pEducation Requirements and Other Requirements:/ppEducation Level: Graduate of an accredited nursing program./ppCertification/Licensure: Illinois license or eligible. BLS certification required. NRP, ACLS, and current Fetal Monitor Course preferred, or must be completed within 12 months of hire. STABLE preferred./ppExperience Requirements: Minimum of 1 year labor nursing experience preferred./p/ul/div
