Role: Distribution Specialist
Location: Westerly, RI
Duration: 6-month contract to hire

As a Distribution Specialist, you’ll support day-to-day warehouse and distribution operations by loading trucks, picking orders, receiving and organizing lumber and related wood products, supporting inventory accuracy, and assisting with deliveries as needed. This role is responsible for keeping the warehouse, vehicles, inventory, and equipment organized, safe, and clean while helping ensure customer orders are completed accurately, efficiently, and professionally.

This role is ideal for a dependable, safety-minded, and hands-on team member with experience in shipping and receiving, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while supporting a collaborative warehouse team. Prior forklift and woodworking experience are preferred.

Day to Day:

• Load trucks, pick orders, and prepare customer products for delivery or pickup
• Receive incoming product, verify accuracy, and store materials in the correct warehouse locations
• Perform quality control checks on incoming loads and outgoing orders
• Support inventory accuracy through cycle counts and physical inventory
• Operate forklifts and warehouse equipment safely, including required daily checks
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized warehouse, equipment, vehicles, inventory, and work area
• Assist with woodworking tasks such as sanding, cutting, and milling as needed
• Support local deliveries from time to time
• Use company systems to enter orders, maintain inventory, and generate delivery and packing slips
• Follow work instructions, safety procedures, and warehouse standards
• Communicate proactively with the Distribution Manager and assist with other warehouse or distribution tasks as needed

Desired Skill Set:

• Valid, clean driver’s license required
• High school diploma preferred, ideally from a vocational or technical school
• Previous shipping and receiving experience required
• Ability to receive forklift certification required; prior forklift experience preferred
• Prior woodworking experience preferred
• Basic math skills and ability to count materials accurately
• Ability to read and complete receiving, delivery, inventory, and job-related paperwork
• Ability to speak and understand English to communicate with customers and team members
• High integrity, reliability, and pride in doing what you say you will do
• Hardworking, self-starting, and motivated, with a “get it done” attitude
• Strong team player who can also work independently with minimal supervision
• Ability to work in a physically demanding warehouse environment, including standing, walking, reaching, climbing, stooping, crouching, kneeling, crawling, and climbing onto trailers
• Ability to lift and exert force repetitively, with weight occasionally exceeding 50 pounds
• Good vision, depth perception, and sensory awareness for product identification and safety
• Must be drug free and alcohol free and able to comply with pre-hire drug and alcohol testing requirements
• Availability to work Monday through Friday for 8 hours per day, with longer hours as needed to meet customer needs

 

Compensation:

$19/hr - $21/hr. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education. Benefit packages for this role will start on the 1st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Employees in this role are also entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law
