In this role, you will be responsible for leading the development of our state-of-the-art game engine, building out User Interface capabilities across all of Roblox. No matter the platform, be it mobile, desktop or consoles, you will help enable our game developers to unlock, accelerate, and promote the creation of high quality, performant UI that empowers meaningful interaction.You Will:Lead the development on our C++ engine code that powers the foundational UI features in the world’s most popular games, as well as the Roblox App and Roblox StudioTake lead in authoring and reviewing API proposals to expose UI capability to Luau; our fast, Lua-derived scripting language that powers user-generated creationManage Senior Engineers and provide technical guidance Work closely with our game developer community to help achieve their creative visionHave fun learning about what makes Roblox an amazing platform and place to work, while supplying to industry leading technologiesYou have:8+ years of professional development experience and 5+ years of management experienceFluent programming skills in C++ (Lua experience is a plus!)Previous leadership experience or people management experienceWorked extensively in areas like Game Engines and UIDesigns solutions that can be intuitively understood by developers of varying fields, such as engineers, game designers, and UI designersSystems level 3D math, pointers, templates, and raw blocks of memory are tools to write high-performance code, not your enemiesExperience with cross platform projects, including consoles or mobile devices is a plusDetailed designs, rigorous in handling edge cases, and diligent in automated testingFor roles that are based at our headquarters in San Mateo, CA: The starting base pay for this position is as shown below. The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual salary could fall outside of this expected range. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
