Overview Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical - D2 Location: Saratoga Hospital, 211 Church Street, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866 Salary Range: $37.00 - $57.61 About the Role Patient Assessments: Incorporates age-specific assessment and intervention skills in all interactions and delivery of nursing care. Assesses patients' physical/psychosocial status. Analyzes relevant data. Integrates assessment results in care planning, goals, and outcomes. Provides therapeutic interventions based on continued assessment, prescribed orders, and input from other care providers. Provides for adequate pain management, manages IV therapy, and administers medications according to critical elements. Promotes patient/colleague/self-safety and protection. Communication: Communicates with patients, colleagues, providers, and management in an accurate, considerate, and timely manner. Applies patient-specific communication skills in interactions that are culturally sensitive and appropriate to age. Accommodates language barriers and sensory and cognitive deficits. Provides reports that are pertinent and concise using SBAR. Documents in a complete, timely, and concise manner. Problem-Solving: Employs critical thinking to achieve outcomes and solve problems. Practices within limits of experience/capability. Collects and integrates data from multiple sources and seeks assistance/information appropriately. Analyzes data critically to support clinical decision-making. Demonstrates the ability to solve problems, reason, and utilize evidence-based practice. Caring Relationships: Engages in caring relationships that consider the human experience of health, illness, and healing. Builds relationship-based care with patients, families, and co-workers to create a caring and healing environment. Involves patients/families in decision-making, anticipates needs, and responds to concerns promptly. Maintains patient autonomy, dignity, and rights. Advocates for patients/families, including obtaining advanced directives when applicable. Supports timely discharges per guidelines. Time Management: Manages own work and resources effectively. Delivers organized care by prioritizing needs and tasks. Adapts positively to changes in patient condition, assignment, and expectations. Leadership: Applies leadership skills consistent with role and experience. Delegates and/or assigns care in line with scope of practice and abilities. Provides constructive feedback and opportunities for co-workers. Coordinates care within the multidisciplinary team. Manages conflict effectively. Participates in committees, councils, policy development, or professional organizations. Teaching: Incorporates teaching in care delivery to promote health and prevent disease. Provides information to patient/family with consideration of individual needs. Assesses barriers to learning and motivation. Teaches patients/families to safely take and monitor medications. Prepares patients/families for prescribed treatment/procedure/discharge. Collaborates with multidisciplinary team to enhance education. Provides counseling for health behaviors. Qualifications Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Candidates with an Associate of Science in Nursing who will complete BSN within five years of date of hire will be considered.
