Computer Operator III

Koniag IT Systems, LLC (KITS), a Koniag Government Services (KGS) company, is seeking a Computer Operator III to support KITS and our government customer in Durham, NC. Responsibilities Recommends improved service routines, production techniques and modifications or additions to equipment. Observes and controls the course of jobs being run on the computer system. Takes immediate action to correct any machine malfunction. Assists in the orientation of operators in a lower classification. Maintains an understanding of production practices and procedures and assists in the resolution of production problems and issues. Prepares and presents quantitative data regarding workflow processes and issues to management and supervisors. Maintains production efficiency by using sound judgments when problem solving, and through effective oral communication. Fulfills tasks of operators in a lower classification as needs arise. Acts in place of program manager when needs require. Maintains related logs and records. Performs clerical duties as assigned. Performs related work as assigned. Skills & Behaviors Thorough knowledge of modern operating systems, networking, and MS Office software. Thorough knowledge of clerical and reporting skills. Excellent attention-to-detail and problem-solving skills. Ability to perform accurately, assigned routine operations on various data processing equipment. Ability to work in high-pressure situations. Ability to listen effectively and express thoughts and opinions clearly and concisely. Ability to work well both alone and in highly structured team environment. Excellent written and verbal communications capabilities with good interpersonal skills. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds or more. Education, Training, & Experience HS Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 5+ years of personal computer experience. (required) Four years of experience in a business mailroom, print operations, and/or mail sorting experience. (required) Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university or successful completion of related programs in data processing and computer operations. (preferred) Experience with using loading and maneuvering equipment safely and effectively. (preferred) Qualifications Candidates who hold an active public trust government clearance are strongly encouraged to apply. Candidates who are willing to undergo a background investigation to receive a government clearance will be strongly considered. Candidates must be able to work Monday-Friday, 6am-2:30pm daily. (Hours may vary based on workload and candidates must be flexible) Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds or more. Must be able to stand for significant periods of time.
