Quality Inspector - 2nd Shift

Eaton's ES AMER ARS division is currently seeking a Quality Inspector – 2nd Shift at our ElPadre facility located at 1 Helen of Troy Plaza. The core hours are Monday through Friday from 4:00pm – 12:45am. The rate for this position is $19.76 per hour plus a $1.00 per hour shift differential. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, qualifications, and market and business considerations. What you’ll do: Inspect the product produced on all lines to confirm the proper function of switchboards and electrical components, identify any product non‑conformances, and ensure it meets customer specifications, safety, and quality requirements. Document inspections made on the applicable checklist. Examine and verify mating structures as necessary to ensure that the job is complete and field installation is problem‑free. Verify that revisions released to the production floor regarding functionality and customer specifications are incorporated into the product, all documentation reflects the current revision, and previous revisions of documents are not used or discarded. (Process and update paperwork accurately – POM, test reports, etc.) Document and communicate non‑conformances, which are critical quality records, and verify required rework to aid problem‑solving and continuous improvement efforts. Communicate design errors to appropriate front‑end personnel for correction, obtain revisions, and verify required rework. Serve as an informal trainer for production associates, communicate well with other associates, and provide assistance particularly for complex tasks and for product requirements that may not be precisely defined (e.g. barrier placement). Work self‑directed and have the ability to reach overhead, pull, push, and climb a ladder to perform work. Qualifications – Basic (Required) High school diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution. Minimum of 3 years manufacturing, production, or military experience OR a degree in a technical discipline. No relocation benefit is offered for this position. Only candidates residing within the immediate area of the Eaton ElPadre, TX facility (50‑mile radius) will be considered. Qualifications – Preferred One or more years of experience in a Quality Inspector or Testing position in a manufacturing environment. Experience in switchboard assembly mechanical (connectors) or wiring areas. Computer literate. Working knowledge of Lean concepts. Associate’s degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or Electronics. Position Criteria Strong verbal and written communication skills, persuasive skills, and analytical problem‑solving skills. Work with individuals and groups to effectively participate within a team environment. Knowledge of basic electricity, current flow, and component functionality schematics/wiring diagrams and assembly processes on all lines. (Hi‑Pot, Shunt Trip). Knowledge of all assembled SWBD product designs (e.g. PRL‑4, Switchboards, IFS, etc.). Experience in applicable UL codes, NEC codes, regional utility codes, and customer‑specific requirements. Ability to read, comprehend, and interpret manufacturing documents, including front view, MIs, wiring diagrams, component literature, engineering drawings, and testing procedures. Knowledge of basic electricity, current flow, and component functionality. Expertise with basic hand tools, air tools, gages, and torque wrenches.
