The Role

The Grant Specialist is a sales-minded role acting as the connection between workforce boards, senior care operators, and the funding opportunities that drive their growth. You will own a territory of Workforce Investment Boards (WIBs), uncover available IWT and WIOA funds, and work directly with senior living and skilled nursing clients to determine fit and move applications forward. This is a relationship-first, results-driven role with quota expectations — ideal for someone who thrives on building trust, managing complexity, and closing the loop from discovery to reimbursement.

What You'll Own

WIB Outreach & Relationship Management

• Conduct proactive outreach to Workforce Investment Boards to identify available IWT and WIOA funding opportunities.
• Build and maintain relationships with WIB contacts across your assigned territory, developing a reliable network of funding intelligence.
• Manage multiple concurrent conversations across boards, tracking status, follow-ups, and next steps with precision.
• Represent WGN professionally in all WIB interactions — positioning our operator clients as strong partners for workforce investment.

Grant Research & Client Communication

• Research and document available grants, including pre-award requirements, award limits, eligible training types, and post-award compliance obligations.
• Communicate funding opportunities to clients in a clear, actionable way — helping operators in senior living and skilled nursing understand eligibility and potential value.
• Partner with operators to determine interest in applying and gather the information needed to move forward.
• Maintain accurate records of funding opportunities, deadlines, and client decisions in the CRM.

Grant Application & Process Management

• Complete grant applications as needed, managing the full submission process for senior living and skilled nursing facility clients.
• Facilitate post-award requirements such as training completion tracking, billing coordination, and reimbursement follow-through.
• Manage budgets and timelines across an active portfolio of applications — staying ahead of deadlines and proactively surfacing risks.

You Might Be a Fit If You

• Required: Have 1-2 Years experience working in or directly with senior living communities or skilled nursing facilities - you understand how communities operate and feel comfortable speaking to their needs.
• Are highly organized with attention to detail- you have the ability to manage multiple operators and grant timelines simultaneously.
• Are comfortable working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment with evolving processes.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple relationships and priorities simultaneously
• Communicate clearly and warmly in writing and on calls.
• Sales mindset with comfort working toward measurable performance goals
• Comfort with CRM platforms and digital tools for tracking and reporting
