The Staff Accountant is a mid-level position that primarily processes payroll and provides general accounting, reporting, and data verification support in the Finance Department for the organization.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Process bi-weekly payroll for all staff across center locations, ensuring accuracy of hours, pay rates, and deductions
• Follow the payroll processing calendar to ensure deadlines are met across all pay cycles
• Maintain confidentiality of employee compensation and personal data
• Accurately update accounting journals, ledgers, and records
• Assist with month-end and year-end close tasks, including journal entries and account reconciliations
• Assist in preparation and monitoring of budgets
• Provide backup support for accounts payable, including invoice processing and payment runs during high-volume periods or staff absences
• Provide backup support for billing, including processing, reconciliations, and other billing tasks, during high-volume periods or staff absences
• May require travel to other Centers within the county
• Additional duties as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Education: Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
• At least 2 years of experience working in an accounting, finance, or related setting
• Proficient in Microsoft Suite

Physical Requirements:

• Typical office environment. Must be able to sit for long periods throughout the day with intermittent periods of standing, walking, and occasional bending, twisting, stooping, reaching, and grasping as necessary to carry out essential job duties
• Sedentary work, with occasional lifting and carrying objects up to 30 pounds
