Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care by delivering intensive respiratory care and facilitating patient transport within the facility as medically prescribed. This role involves evaluating patients, recommending treatment plans, explaining procedures and treatments, and providing education for discharge.

Responsibilities

• Conduct physician-prescribed treatments operating various ventilatory equipment, oxygen, aerosol devices, and nebulizers.
• Perform chest physiotherapy and suctioning using multiple methods.
• Monitor oximetry and capnography as per policy, and routinely review patients’ chest x-rays.
• Conduct 12-Lead EKGs and basic arrhythmia recognition.
• Assist with procedures relating to respiratory care, including Bronchoscopy and chest tube placement.
• Manage tracheostomy care and assist with the insertion and removal of tubes.
• Perform arterial punctures and evaluate ventilation efficiency.
• Document all pertinent treatment information and communicate with the healthcare team effectively.
• Maintain accurate records of respiratory therapy charges and ensure proper equipment maintenance and operation.
• Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation in accordance with BLS and ACLS guidelines.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

Must possess an active Respiratory Therapy license and relevant certifications as required for the position.
