Job Title: Test Engineer Job Description

The Test Engineer designs and develops test fixtures, stimuli, and automated test software to support production across multiple manufacturing sites. This role creates comprehensive manufacturing test specifications, procedures, and training materials, and works closely with development partners and contract manufacturers to ensure reliable, high-quality testing of robotic and embedded systems. The Test Engineer analyzes product performance data, participates in root cause investigations, and collaborates across functions to resolve design, manufacturing, and field issues.

• Design and develop test fixtures, stimuli, and automated test software to support testing across multiple manufacturing locations.
• Author detailed manufacturing test specifications in collaboration with development partners and contract manufacturers.
• Create test procedures, training plans, and debug decision trees to guide and support test technicians.
• Analyze product performance and test data to refine test criteria and continuously improve test methods and coverage.
• Participate in root cause analysis for customer issues and warranty claims, and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve systemic design and manufacturing issues.
• Troubleshoot and disposition non-conforming products and support investigations into build failures and field failures.
• Work hands-on with test equipment, robotics, and automated systems in a manufacturing environment.
• Develop and maintain test plans and manufacturing test processes that ensure consistent product quality.
• Support ongoing production by quickly diagnosing and resolving test-related issues on the manufacturing floor.

• Experience in test engineering and test development in a manufacturing environment.
• Hands-on hardware experience with test equipment, fixtures, and production systems.
• Ability to design and prototype test fixtures using tools such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD Electrical.
• Experience working with robotics and automated equipment in a production or test setting.
• Knowledge of manufacturing test processes, including test procedures, test plans, and fixture development.
• Proficiency in Python for test automation and data analysis.
• Experience with SQL or MySQL for managing and querying test data.
• Ability to collaborate with development partners and contract manufacturers on test specifications and processes.
• Strong analytical skills for interpreting product performance data and refining test criteria.
• Problem-solving skills for troubleshooting non-conforming products, build failures, and field issues.

• Knowledge of embedded systems and electrical control theories.
• Familiarity with motors, sensors, vision systems, and related hardware components.
• Understanding of communication protocols such as CANBus and Ethernet.
• Proficiency in software development with Python, C, and C#.
• Experience participating in root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Background working with robotics in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Interest in contributing to an innovative, up-and-coming robotics company.
• Ability to create clear training materials and debug decision trees for technicians.

The role is part of a small, collaborative engineering team currently composed of three engineers, with plans to grow through both direct and contract hires. You will work hands-on with test hardware, robotics, and automated equipment in a manufacturing environment, frequently interacting with the production floor and test technicians. The setting emphasizes practical problem-solving, close cross-functional collaboration, and direct involvement with cutting-edge robotic systems and embedded technologies.

This is a Contract position based out of Wilmington, MA.

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $110.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
