Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Embark on a rewarding contract opportunity supporting high school students in a dedicated self-contained classroom. This role centers on providing specialized instruction to individuals with unique learning needs, surrounded by a collaborative team that includes two paraprofessionals and a Registered Behavior Technician. The assignment runs from early August 2026 through late May 2027, with the potential for extension based on performance.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Georgia SPED GaPSC Certification with SPED content through 8th grade
- Adapted Curriculum Endorsement required
- Consideration for candidates with pending credentials
- Experience teaching in special education settings, particularly with functional curriculum and lower-functioning populations, is highly valued
- Commitment to fostering a supportive, inclusive, and goal-oriented classroom environment
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized and small-group instruction designed for students with diverse abilities
- Develop and implement functional curriculum in alignment with IEP goals and state standards
- Manage classroom activities and routines in partnership with paraprofessional staff and the Registered Behavior Technician
- Track and document student progress, contributing to IEP reports and meetings
- Collaborate with families, school professionals, and administration to ensure students’ needs are met holistically
- Uphold district policies and advocate for best practices in special education
This full-time role offers a consistent schedule of 37.5 to 40 hours per week. The supportive classroom setting and well-established team help create an environment where both educators and students can thrive.
