Deli Cook

The Deli Cook is a vital member of our team, responsible for preparing delicious and high-quality food items while maintaining a clean and organized work environment. This role requires a strong understanding of cooking techniques, food safety and sanitation, and a commitment to providing excellent customer service. The ideal candidate should be detail-oriented, possess excellent time management skills, and thrive in a fast-paced restaurant operation.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare a variety of deli items, including sandwiches, salads, and sides, following established recipes and standards.
• Maintain a clean and organized workstation, adhering to strict sanitation guidelines and food safety protocols.
• Being able to cook all types of foods such as meats, seafood, and vegetables.
• Able to use various methods of cooking: frying, grilling, roasting, and sauteing.
• Operate and maintain kitchen equipment, including grills, ovens, and slicers, ensuring proper functionality and cleanliness.
• Provide exceptional customer service, addressing customer inquiries and special requests with a positive attitude.
• Assist with food preparation tasks, including chopping vegetables, preparing sauces, and portioning ingredients.
• Collaborate effectively with other team members, demonstrating teamwork and a positive work ethic.
• Monitor food inventory and report any shortages or discrepancies to the deli manager.
• Adhere to all operation procedures, including opening and closing duties.
• Practice effective time management to ensure timely food preparation and service.
• Maintain a focus on food safety and sanitation throughout all stages of food handling.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Working knowledge of cooking techniques and food preparation methods.
• Possession of a valid Food Handler's Card.
• General knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Demonstrated ability to be detail-oriented.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior experience in a deli or similar food service environment.
• Experience with grilling techniques.
• Familiarity with kitchen management principles.
• Experience with multitasking.

Education:

High School or better.

Experience:

1 year: Fast-paced Restaurant Environment

1 year: Frying all types of foods

1 year: Grilling

1 year: Food Preparation

1 year: Food Handling Training
