Physical Education/Health Teacher for Torrington High School (grades 9-12) Applicants must hold or be eligible for a valid State of Connecticut teaching certificate with dual certification in both 044 Physical Education, 4-12 endorsement. and 043 Health Education 4-12 endorsement.
Torrington High School is seeking a dynamic and student-centered Physical Education/Health Teacher who holds Connecticut certification in both Physical Education and Health. The successful candidate may be assigned to teach Physical Education, Health, or a combination of both. In alignment with the district's commitment to expanding college and career pathways, this position includes the expectation that the selected candidate will pursue and obtain approval to teach University of Connecticut Early College Experience (UCONN ECE) Health courses. Preference will be given to candidates with experience teaching rigorous college-preparatory or dual-enrollment coursework and with knowledge of healthcare careers, medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, healthcare ethics, and current healthcare industry practices. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to provide authentic, career-connected learning experiences through healthcare simulations, case studies, career exploration activities, and partnerships with healthcare professionals and organizations. Candidates who currently possess, or are eligible to obtain, UCONN ECE instructor approval in Medical Terminology and/or Allied Health coursework are strongly encouraged to apply.
