Mechanical Engineer IV

Job Number: 342009 About This Role Textron Systems seeks a full‑time Mechanical Engineer with experience in mechanical design focused on military applications. The role requires designing and integrating component solutions into an overall assembly, communicating with suppliers, and presenting technical information. Candidates must be U.S. citizens capable of obtaining a Secret level security clearance. Responsibilities Participate in detailed design of structural components. Work as part of a team responsible for development and design integration of mechanical components and systems. Create technical data packages including 3D drawings, specifications, and material lists for mechanical and electro‑mechanical components and assemblies. Prepare and direct high‑quality mechanical and electro‑mechanical detail and assembly drawings. Transition product design to production and test. Write technical and proposal documents. Develop detailed design reports and presentations summarizing design and analysis results. Qualifications Desire to design mechanical components and systems for extreme hypersonic flight conditions, including electronics packaging, interface control documents, and design for manufacturing and assembly. Experience with CAD design, 3D digital product development tools, and ASME Y14.5 GD&T. Demonstrated participation in mechanical and structural design teams leading to qualified aeroshell designs that accommodate high loading and thermal gradients. Design experience with high‑temperature parts, considering thermal strain, pressurization, and material and joining methods. Proficiency with Siemens NX/Teamcenter for design, product specification development, surface finish, material specification, and documentation. Ability to generate product performance specifications, mass property summary reports, and detailed design technical reports. DFMA skills are a plus. BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering.
