First-Time Travelers: Accepted.Patient TypesAs a Registered Nurse, you will float between various areas within the hospital where patient care is within your scope of practice, including:3rd Floor: Medical/Surgical (44 Beds) Medical Patients: COPD, CHF, Sepsis, AKI/CKD, DVT, PE, cellulitis, pancreatitis, ETOHSurgical/Ortho: Total joints (knees/hips), GI procedures (exploratory lap, hemicolectomy, bowel resection), GU procedures (TURP, cystoscopy), GYN (hysterectomy), ENT, and podiatryTelemetry capable with bedside monitoring and tele tech support2nd Floor: Acute Respiratory Floor (16 Beds) Patients with COPD, pneumonia, CHF, and other respiratory issuesHigh-flow and BiPap support available1st Floor: ED/MS Overflow General MedSurg observation and managementProgressive Care Unit (PCU) (10 Beds) Care for PCU level patients only, no ICU patientsConditions include Afib RVR and other medical and surgical progressive careIntensive Care Unit (ICU) (10 Beds) Care for vents, sepsis, respiratory failure, with no neuro or cardiac interventions requiredPatient RatiosMedSurg: 1:5PCU: 1:3, no CNA supportICU: 1:2-3, dependent on acuity, no CNA supportRequired Licensure & CertificationsACLSBLSTNCCNIH Stroke ScaleTraveler Telemetry Competency ExamSkills RequiredVentilation managementAirway managementHigh flow oxygen deliveryChest tube managementPeripheral IV skills including starting and maintenanceWound care including dressing changes and wound vacsDrains management (JP, Hemovacs, nephrostomy tubes)Pain management and PCA administrationCentral line managementCardiac rhythm interpretationManagement of critical drips (Heparin, Amiodarone, Cardizem, Nitro, Pressors)Support on the UnitNo CNAs in ICU/PCU, but available on other unitsIV/VAT Team support for IV therapy during day shiftsRT available 24/7Hospitalists in-house 24/7Intensivists available during the day with tele ICU supportOccupational, Physical, and Speech Therapy available during daysRapid Response and Code Team on standbyCentralized Tele monitoring with techs 24/7 for MedSurg/PCU patients
