Program Analyst (Informatics)

Summary The Marion VA Health Care System is seeking three (3) full-time Program Analyst (Informatics) within Health Informatics. Two positions will be located in Marion, IL and one in Evansville, IN. The primary purpose of the position is to improve the quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of health care by integrating clinical and information processes necessary to achieve successful adoption and application of new technologies throughout the Veterans Health Administration (VHA). Learn more about this agency Duties Help The work of this position is healthcare-oriented in nature. Duties include, but may not be limited to the following:
- Uses communication, education, and leadership to support comprehension of and adaptation to organizational updates.
- Guide the evolution of clinical software and processes by ensuring clinical software are available for staff use in addition to training on these programs.
- Contribute to software enhancements, guide process improvement activities, and partner with IT colleagues to enhance patient care provided by clinical and business staff.
- Collaborate with the facility Health Informatics (HI), VISN 15 Programs, national staff, and other experts to develop mechanisms for evaluating and monitoring the quality, safety, efficiency, utilization, productivity, and effectiveness of EHR/clinical applications.
- Cultivate a healthy working relationship between the Office of Information and Technology (OIT) and Health Informatics, allowing for routine dialog to enable the sustainment and optimization of our health IT solutions and workflows, for the benefit of all staff and Veterans.
- Evaluate content quality and ensure access to knowledge resources, eliminating redundancy in duplicate data sources, and improving information interoperability across the organization.
- Work through and with interdisciplinary teams to complete health information system initiatives set by VISN and National. Plan, organize, coordinate, and communicate with facility key stakeholders, managing all phases of HI projects for the facility.
- Applies statistical (quantitative information derived mathematically), machine learning (use of artificial intelligence to derive knowledge from data to predict outcomes), visualization (representation of data via a chart or other image), inferencing (a way to understand cause-and-effect relationships) and other techniques to enable decision support.
- Develop and utilize reports and information tools using methods and tools such as Structured Query Language (SQL) and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) from VISN and the VA Corporate Data Warehouse.
- Enables healthcare capabilities and the evolution of technology adjoined to the electronic health record (EHR) to deliver quality care by developing, implementing, monitoring, maintaining, and optimizing informatics tools, along with access to them.
- Ensure clinical input in the development and management of the VHA business architecture/EHR and participates in evaluating, testing, and reporting errors found in systems and applications.
- Apply comprehensive processes to evaluate workflows, identify issues, develop solutions based on best practices, and communicate changes to maintain and optimize Health Information Technology (HIT) solutions.
- Serve as a super user of both the legacy EHR (VistA/CPRS) and the upcoming EHR Modernization (Cerner Millennium).

- A grade-point average of "B" (a GPA of 2.95 or higher out of a possible 4.0) for all completed undergraduate courses, or those completed in the last two years of undergraduate study.
- A grade point average of "B+" (a GPA of 3.45 or higher out of a possible 4.0) for all courses in your major field of study, or those courses in your major completed in the last two years of undergraduate study.
- Membership in a national honor society (other than freshman honor societies) recognized by the Association of College Honor Societies.
