Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and Behavior Technician (RBT) to join our team. In this role, you will work directly with children and individuals with developmental disabilities, implementing behavior intervention plans and providing support to enhance their quality of life. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in behavioral health, patient care, and experience working with children. This position is essential in promoting positive behavior management and helping clients achieve their personal goals.

Key responsibilities

• Supervision and mentorship: The lead therapist provides guidance, training, and constructive feedback to a team of behavior technicians (BTs) or registered behavior technicians (RBTs). This includes developing the skills of new staff members.
• Treatment plan oversight: They help ensure that behavior intervention and skill acquisition programs, which are designed by Board-Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs), are carried out correctly and consistently.
• Data collection and analysis: A lead therapist oversees the collection and summarization of client data to track progress and report on outcomes. They may also assist BCBAs with clinical assessments.
• Communication and coordination: This role involves acting as a facilitator and liaison for the client's treatment team. This includes communicating with BCBAs, parents, caregivers, and other professionals to ensure a unified approach to the client's care.
• Direct client care: In addition to their leadership duties, lead therapists often provide direct, one-on-one therapy to clients.
• Administrative tasks: They may coordinate the day-to-day operations of a clinic, such as organizing therapy materials and assisting with scheduling.

Skills and Qualifications

• Educational background: While requirements can vary, a bachelor's degree in psychology, education, or a related field is often needed, with a master's degree often preferred for higher-level positions.
• Certification and licensure: Many lead positions require certification as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT). A candidate pursuing Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) status is often preferred. For more senior roles, clinical licensure may also be required.
• Experience: Previous experience as a behavior technician implementing ABA therapy is essential, with several years of experience often required for leadership.
• Strong communication skills: Excellent verbal and written communication is necessary for training staff, coordinating with families, and collaborating with clinical supervisors.
• Leadership and management abilities: Lead therapists must be able to motivate and train staff, manage daily operations, and foster a positive team environment.
• Empathy and patience: Working with clients and families, especially those with developmental disabilities or challenging behaviors, requires a high degree of patience, empathy, and problem-solving skills.
