Surgical Technologist II - CRMH Main OR (Open) Location: 1906 Belleview Ave SE, Roanoke, VA Employment Status: Full time | Shift: Variable Hours (United States of America) Overview This role supports surgeons, gastroenterologists, anesthesiologists, and patients by ensuring a sterile field and assisting in peri‑operative care under the supervision of licensed physicians or registered nurses. The position collaborates with the healthcare team to deliver high quality patient care. Responsibilities Establish and maintain a sterile field and ensure the team maintains a sterile environment. Correctly and safely pass instruments to the clinician. Participate in surgical counts (sponge, needle and instruments) per policy. Collaborate with surgeons, gastroenterologists, anesthesiologists, other staff, and patients to facilitate continuity of care. Deliver individualized peri‑operative nursing care under the supervision and guidance of a licensed physician or a registered professional nurse. Assist in the nursing process for patients of all ages served. Participate in unit educational activities. Follow all policies, procedures, regulatory standards, and patient safety goals. Qualifications High school graduate or equivalent. Successfully completed an accredited surgical technologist training program and holds a current credential as a certified surgical technologist from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting or its successor. Certification in Surgical Technology is required. LPN licensure is required for grandfathered employees. Knowledge of instrumentation. Ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served, interpret growth and development principles, identify patient requirements relative to age and specific needs, and provide care as described in departmental policies and procedures.
