Head Women’s Soccer Coach BASIC FUNCTION: To serve as the Head Women’s Soccer Coach. The head coach will be in charge of all aspects of the Women’s Soccer program, including recruitment of quality student athletes, retention, fundraising, conditioning programs, organizing and planning practices and game strategies, and assisting in scheduling contests and coordinating travel. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Recruit qualified student athletes within the intercollegiate athletic program to ensure compliance with conference and national rules. Establish practice sessions and hold them regularly. Scout opponents. Prepare for and coach during games. Manage and report sports information through telephone or written communication, including releasing statistics and results to the press and conference sites. Assist in planning and managing program budgets. Assist in scheduling and coordinating athletic travel, transportation, and accommodations with the transportation coordinator. Assist with the program’s meet schedule with the athletic director. Assist in game management for various athletic events. Distribute, clean, and collect uniforms and equipment. Perform other duties as assigned. Supervision Received Direct supervision received from the Director of Athletics. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree or a similar combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired. Valid driver’s license. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge: Comprehensive knowledge of USCAA rules and regulations. Ability to deal effectively with students, college personnel, the professional USCAA compliance network, and others outside the university. Coaching knowledge and experience. General knowledge of Microsoft Office. Understanding of the educational goals and objectives of Vermont State University, including attention to accessibility and diversity, equity, and inclusion. Skills: Strong and varied technical skills and interest in recreational activities. Broad base of knowledge and skills related to athletic facilities, management, coaching, recruiting, and other relevant experience. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Abilities: Weekend and evening work is required. Demonstrated ability to positively influence student skill development: communication, leadership, academic, technical, non-cognitive (soft) skills, and social skills. Demonstrated ability to foster student development in attainment of student success goals such as academic purpose, sense of belonging/identity, agency, career readiness, civic readiness, access & equity. Demonstrated positive attitude regarding Vermont State University and a desire to improve student outcomes, including attention to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Demonstrated ability to support a diverse community and promote diverse perspectives and cultures in an inclusive environment. Job Details Scheduled Hours: 25 weekly. Budgeted Wage: $9,700.
