$110,000–$150,000 Base Salary + Bonus

Our client is expanding its litigation practice and is seeking an experienced attorney who wants substantive case responsibility, direct client relationships, and the opportunity to handle matters with greater autonomy and less bureaucracy than is typical in a larger firm environment.

The firm handles a broad range of civil litigation matters, including commercial and business disputes, real estate and construction matters, estate and trust disputes, fiduciary matters, and other complex civil litigation.

Candidates do not need experience in every practice area. The firm is particularly interested in attorneys with a strong commercial/civil litigation foundation who can independently manage matters and are interested in handling a diverse litigation caseload.

This opportunity may be especially attractive to an attorney who wants greater ownership of cases, meaningful client interaction, direct access to firm leadership, and the opportunity to play an important role in the continued growth of the firm's litigation practice.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage civil and commercial litigation matters from initial evaluation through resolution
• Develop litigation strategy and provide practical, business-minded advice to clients
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery, settlement agreements, and other litigation documents
• Take and defend depositions and manage all phases of discovery
• Participate in mediation, settlement negotiations, hearings, motion proceedings, and trials
• Communicate directly with clients regarding strategy, case developments, risk, and resolution options
• Collaborate with attorneys across the firm's business, real estate, construction, estate and trust, and other practice areas

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
• Active Maryland Bar membership and authorization to practice in Maryland
• 5+ years of substantive litigation experience preferred
• Experience handling civil litigation matters with increasing levels of responsibility
• Commercial or business litigation experience strongly preferred
• Experience involving real estate, construction, estate and trust, fiduciary, probate, or other complex civil disputes is a plus
• Ability to independently manage litigation matters from initial evaluation through resolution
• Experience with discovery, depositions, motions practice, negotiations, hearings, and trial preparation
• Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and advocacy skills
• Strong client communication and relationship-management abilities
• Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines in a collaborative law firm environment
