Job Opportunity

Position: Travel RN - Med/Surg

Shift: 7 PM - 7 AM

Unit Information

The position is located in a Neuro Med/Surg unit, featuring:

• Number of Beds: 38
• Staffing Levels: 55 staff members

Staffing Ratios

Day Shift:

• 2 charge nurses (without patients)
• 4-5 RNs per 1 patient ratio
• 2 Patient Care Technicians

Night Shift:

• 1-2 charge nurses (depending on staffing)
• 4-5 RNs per 1 patient ratio
• 2 Patient Care Technicians

The patient ratio may vary between 5:1 or 6:1 but is never guaranteed.

Equipment and Technology

• IV pumps
• Seizure monitoring equipment
• Bi-Pap and C-Pap machines (mostly used at night)
• Glucometers

Electronic Medical Record (EMR)

Experience with Meditech is required.

Qualifications

Required Skills

• Minimum of 1 year of current Med/Surg experience
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Preferred Skills

• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Experience in Neuro nursing
• Familiarity with Meditech EMR

Typical Procedures

• NIH stroke assessments and neuro assessments
• Fall risk assessments
• Tracheostomy care
• Feeding tube management
