Summary
The Inside Account Manager (IAM) is responsible for the full ownership, growth, and retention of a defined portfolio of accounts.
This role serves as the primary point of accountability for account strategy, customer engagement, forecasting, and revenue growth. The IAM operates in a remote coverage model and is expected to drive year-over-year shipment and booking growth while developing accounts toward higher-value opportunities and eventual transition to Field Sales Engineers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Drive revenue growth across assigned accounts through proactive account management
- Own and manage a portfolio of accounts across Motion AI, BDI, and Applied Industrial
- Develop account plans and maintain accurate shipment and booking forecasts
- Expand share-of-wallet through application and product penetration
- Convert transactional demand into predictable repeat business
- Maintain regular remote engagement cadence with customers and distributor partners
- Build and document application knowledge to strengthen customer positioning
- Coordinate with distributors and internal teams to execute account strategy
- Maintain CRM accuracy and pipeline visibility
Representative Decisions
- Prioritization of accounts and growth opportunities
- Customer commitments related to pricing, service, and delivery expectations
- Determination of when to escalate or involve additional resources
- Timing of transitions to Field Sales Engineers

Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- 3+ years of sales or account management experience
- Industrial or technical sales experience preferred
- Experience working with distributors
- CRM proficiency (Salesforce preferred)
- Strong analytical and forecasting capability
Physical Demand and Work Environment
Physical Demands – Regular use of computer, communication tools, and standard office equipment.
Work Environment – Remote/office environment with moderate noise levels. Limited travel (~10%) may be required.

Expected salary: $75,000 - $83,000 annually. The salary range provided is intended to display the value of the company's base pay compensation for all statewide locations across the United States. Salary is dependent on a multitude of factors, including but not limited to the physical worksite location, candidate's skill set, level of experience, education, and internal peer compensation comparisons.
