In this System Certified Principal Engineer (CPE) role, you will lead the team through the design, integration, testing, and troubleshooting of cutting edge electronic systems that safeguard our nation. Working side by side with a collaborative team of top engineers, you’ll create robust hardware designs, develop comprehensive test plans, and interface with customers/stakeholders to solve complex problems and deliver reliable, mission essential hardware. You will need to live near our Lockheed Martin Space facility and be expected to work a flexible 9x80 schedule in the office full-time.What does this role look like?In this position you are the technical authority for every electronics hardware that moves through the program—from concept to actual units. You bridge the gap between system requirements and hands on work of engineers, ensuring hardware is built, verified, and delivered on time, on budget, and to high standards. • Define the overall electronics hardware architecture that satisfies system performance, weight, power, and reliability targets.• Review and approve schematic captures, PCB layouts, integration drawings, and test results. Conduct detailed design analyses and ensure modeling results are validated by physical tests.• Identify technical risks early and develop mitigation strategies.• Work closely with systems engineers to translate system level requirements into concrete hardware specifications.• Prepare technical briefings and presentations for external customers or certification bodies.Key activities you will accomplish in this role:• Review and approve detailed designs (schematics, PCB layouts, mechanical drawings) and perform technical analyses (signal integrity, power integrity, thermal, radiation hardness).• Lead design and technical reviews and document decisions, risk mitigations, and action items.• Identify technical risks early and develop mitigation strategies; track risks on the program risk register.• Report status and performance metrics to program leadership and customers, providing clear updates on schedule health, technical performance, and risk posture.• Mentor junior engineers and technicians, conducting technical workshops on best practice design, analysis, and test methods.To be effective in this role, you will need:• Prior in-depth experience designing electronics hardware and comfortable using test equipment in a laboratory setting.• Strong troubleshooting skills with ability to develop complex solutions to complex problems.• Experienced with designing, simulating, and testing digital, analog, mixed-signal, or system-level hardware.• Demonstrated strong communication with the ability to articulate complex technical issues to peers, management, subcontractors and customers.• Currently holds an active US Security Secret Clearance.The information below reflects the standard job description for this position: Researches, designs, develops, and tests a variety of electronic equipment and systems, including radar and radiation detection equipment; radio, television and other communications equipment and systems; circuitry components; analog and digital computers; and control and test equipment.Basic QualificationsBS in Electrical EngineeringPrevious experience leading a team of engineers in a Certified Principal Engineer (CPE) role or equivalentIn-depth experience with design of digital or analog circuitsExperience in testing and integration of complex electronics systemsExperience performing electronics analysis (Worst Case Analysis, Electrical Parts Stress Analysis, Failure Modes and Effects Critical Analysis)Holds an active Secret clearanceDesired SkillsComfortable with understanding system-level requirements and how to implement them into hardware solutionsAbility to navigate technical work through ambiguityProposal writing or BOE generation experienceDemonstrated good communication and presentation skills with the ability to articulate complex technical issues to peers, management, subcontractors and customersDemonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, collaborative team environment and to build consensus among peers and effective relationships with team membersAble to work effectively in a diverse team environment.Self-starter with ability to leadProficient in AI prompting as it applies to this position and practice Pay InformationFull-Time Salary Range: $118000.00 - $219100.00At Lockheed Martin, we know mission success starts with taking care of our people.
