Board Certified Behavior AnalystExempt/At-WillDirector of Special Education104/212Administration BuildingFebruary 2020Primary PurposeTo provide behavior analysis services and behavior management plans for special education students enrolled in educational programs; provide support and professional learning to school site staff, para-educators, and parents/guardians in appropriate behavior intervention techniques; conducts assessments and develops plans that conform to IDEA, Texas law and regulations and other applicable statutes and regulations.QualificationsEducation/CertificationMaster's Degree or higher BCBA Certification Certification in Special Education (preferred)Special Knowledge/SkillsKnowledge of current trends and best practices in intervention for students with social, emotional, and behavioral challenges. Excellent oral and written communication skills requiredExperienceExperience with Functional Behavior Assessments, data collection to monitor and measure student growth, therapeutic intervention to support learning, and state-mandated reporting. Minimum of one year Applied Behavior Analysis work experience, required OR Experience with students with social, emotional and behavior challenges Two years special education teaching experience, preferredMajor Responsibilities and DutiesProvide BCBA services for students as neededDevelop material, training and provide resources for and provide professional learning to administrators, educators, para-educators, and parents/guardians in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and/or other evidence-based methodologies related to addressing the needs of students with behavior difficultiesPlan and oversee the development implementation of program, policies, and best practices related to instructionCreate and assist District staff with the development and implementation of functional behavioral assessments for individual studentsManage and assist District staff with maladaptive behaviors, e.g., CPIImplement and assist District staff with data collection, review, and modify treatment according to dataCommunicate through checking voicemail and email regularlyConfer with members of the ARD Committee and district staff and other related team members, individually, at an ARD meeting, or in conference to exchange, discuss and evaluation student information for planning, and modifying, and coordination treatment programsWork and assist District Staff with students who exhibit inappropriate behaviors and provide support and professional learning for staff who work with students who exhibit suchTo establish rapport and work constructively with staff, students, parents, and community membersTo creatively solve problems and work through the conflict resolution processTo communicate effectively, in oral and written formTo maintain knowledgeable of best practices and laws governing behavioral supports for students with disabilitiesOther FunctionsSupervise BCBA candidates within district as appropriateCollaborate with public and private agencies to offer programs that foster pro-social skills and prevent violent behavior for the purpose of providing services to strengthen families as well as studentsTravel from school to schoolOther duties as assignedWorking ConditionsMental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); provide direction & guidance to colleagues; maintain emotional control under stress; establish effective relationships with & motivate colleagues; understand special education rules and regulations and apply this knowledge to procedures Regular district wide travel; occasional evening hours; moderate lifting and carrying (under 15 pounds)Note: This is not necessarily an exhaustive or all-inclusive list of responsibilities, skills, duties, requirements, efforts, functions or working conditions associated with the job.
