Responsibilities of the Activity Director:
- Planning, organizing, coordinating and executing a diversified and well‑planned activity program which includes recreational, religious, social, physical, intellectual and community‑service oriented programs
- Plan monthly activity calendar and submit it to Graphic Designer for printing and delivery to facility before 1st of month
- Creating and maintaining a positive atmosphere of warmth and kindness, as well as a calm environment throughout the facility
- Planning and implementing suitable activities for residents who are not able or willing to attend regularly‑scheduled activities
- Ensure each patient is evaluated initially and periodically to determine his or her backgrounds, interests, abilities, physical and emotional needs and limitations for the purpose of planning meaningful programs
Requirements:
- B.A. or B.S. in Recreational Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Education or Social Service OR, Minimum of high school education with Activity Director Certification
- Two to three years of experience in group activity programming or an equivalent
- Management experience much preferred
- Knowledge of JCAHO, OBRA, IDPH and HFS regulations relevant to activities
- Must have ability to teach, organize, initiate and take responsibility for programs targeted for seniors or physically challenged
- Knowledge of the community and community resources
- Must be personable, professional and cooperative with all residents, families and staff
