Position Type: Paraprofessional/Paraprofessional Date Posted: 7/15/2026 Location: Rolling Meadows High School Date Available: August 10, 2026 Closing Date: Internal Until 07/19/2026 Position Anticipated Instructional Assistant-Student Services (RMHS) 26.25 hours/week Salary Grade 4, Step 1, $26.60 per hour (ESPA agreement linked here.) Assignment 10 Month Effective August 10, 2026 General Responsibilities This work involves close interaction with staff, students and parents/guardians, with the primary emphasis on the implementation of specialized or vocational education programs. An Instructional Assistant works under the direction of a licensed teacher, must react appropriately in crisis situations, and exhibit initiative and creativity. The role requires organizational skills, independent judgment, confidentiality, initiative, and collaboration to accomplish the mission of the district. Qualifications Must have or obtain State and NCLB Approved Paraprofessional designation in accordance with Illinois State Board of Education requirements. Must have physical ability to lift/move supplies, materials and office equipment up to 50 lbs, and provide assistance to students. Must sit at a workstation for extended periods and/or move frequently between areas of the building. Must organize and prioritize workflow. Must be proficient in the use of computers, office practices, procedures and equipment. Must project a positive image of the district to students, staff and parents, and exhibit a positive employee attitude. Must demonstrate appropriate interpersonal skills and communicate clearly and respectfully with students, staff, parents, visitors, and the general public. Must be aware of a variety of student needs, including physical and social‑emotional needs. Must have the ability to adapt to all subject areas. May need a valid driver's license. Must have previous experience working with youth. Position Expectations Assisting students under the direction of licensed staff by, but not limited to: Providing tutoring Implementing classroom procedures and reinforcing student positive behavior Monitoring and administering assessments as needed Reinforcing organizational and note‑taking skills Grading materials for immediate feedback Demonstrating use of technology for instruction, drill and remediation as well as homework assignments Helping the student achieve IEP goals Assisting with students' non‑medical physical or personal care/toileting needs Developing basic knowledge of software usage to support staff and students Possessing the ability and willingness to learn and implement all appropriate school technology Supporting and supervising students during non‑academic settings Assisting licensed staff by, but not limited to: Helping organize and supervise off‑campus programs for students Performing classroom‑related clerical tasks Assisting with lab set‑up and clean‑up Explaining classroom procedures and materials to substitute teachers when necessary Previewing instructional materials Acting as a liaison to communicate and record data regarding student progress Viewing student information system including attendance, IEP, 504 and appropriate health information Works collaboratively in assessment, academic and instructional support, student interactions, enforcing safe behaviors, and enhancing social growth of students in the school setting. Participating in appropriate professional development activities in order to enhance job performance. Cultivating and developing inclusive and equitable working relationships with staff, students and community members.
