Senior Director of Finance

the client is a Detroit-based nonprofit focused on ending chronic homelessness and helping people experiencing homelessness regain dignity, stability, and hope. Rooted in Catholic and Jesuit values of service, compassion, and human dignity, the client delivers both immediate relief and longer-term pathways toward housing and healing. Services include a day center that offers daily meals, showers, laundry, mail and phone access, medical and dental care, legal support, foot care, haircuts, bike repair, housing assistance, and connections to social services, serving as a critical entry point for individuals facing complex barriers. The client also operates a Bridge Housing Campus as part of its service evolution, providing transitional housing support rather than an emergency shelter or permanent housing site. The campus includes studio apartments where residents may stay for approximately five to six months while receiving intensive wraparound services such as medical and respite care, psychological and addiction-related support, social support, job-readiness, housing advocacy, and stabilization services. Together, the day center and campus reflect a holistic approach that meets people where they are, supports wellbeing in the immediate term, and builds more durable pathways to stability and long-term wellbeing. The client seeks a Senior Director of Finance to serve as the organization’s senior financial executive and a strategic partner to the President and CEO, the board of directors, and the leadership team. Reporting to the President and CEO, this full-time, on-site role is accountable for the organization’s financial health, integrity, and long-term sustainability. Responsibilities include day-to-day stewardship of accounting, payroll, audit, and compliance, as well as strategic leadership for multi-year financial planning, capital project finance for the Bridge Housing Campus, treasury and debt management, internal controls and risk, financial systems modernization, and building internal operational, financial, and partnership infrastructure to support an increasingly complex and integrated model of care.
