AI Software Engineer

Salary: $120,000 - 180,000 per year Requirements:

• At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience
• Experience designing, shipping, operating, and fixing production systems
• Strong foundations in system design, data modeling, testing, and debugging
• Deep proficiency in Python or TypeScript, ideally both, plus experience building and using APIs and relational databases such as Postgres
• Comfortable deploying and operating cloud software, including CI/CD, logging, and monitoring
• Experience building LLM-powered tools used by real people, with an understanding of how they can fail
• Hands-on experience with Claude Code, MCP servers, or agent frameworks
• Ability to explain technical decisions clearly to both executives and engineers
• Enjoys working directly with clients and listening to their needs
• Willingness to advise clients when an approach is unlikely to work
• Nice to have: experience integrating ERPs such as Odoo or NetSuite, CRMs such as HubSpot, or accounting tools such as QuickBooks
• Nice to have: consulting, agency, or founder experience
• Nice to have: background in manufacturing, healthcare, or financial services

• Quickly learn client processes, onsite or remotely
• Identify where AI can help and explain recommendations to both executives and IT leads
• Design and build complete systems, including LLM workflows, agents, business-system integrations, and user interfaces
• Create evaluations to assess whether system outputs are reliable enough to use
• Deploy solutions to production and improve them based on real-world use
• Help deliver two-day AI proofs of concept, aiming to produce a working tool by the end of the second day
• Create reusable assets such as skills, MCP connectors, evaluation sets, and templates for future projects
• Own client projects from initial discussions through production, including identifying opportunities, setting technical direction, building systems, and refining them after launch
• Manage multiple projects and translate established processes into simpler workflows, keeping people involved where errors carry significant risk

This is a full-time, in-person role at our Indianapolis office, with travel to client sites.
