JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a Clinical Operations Supervisor to manage and coordinate patient care and personnel needs in a Cardiology Diagnostic Unit; plan, develop, implement and evaluate ambulatory health care services, programs and activities. The position involves daily clinical operation of Echocardiography and Vascular ultrasound, including echocardiograms, stress echo, treadmills, carotids, AAA, ABI, renal and lower extremity ultrasound. The supervisor must enter preliminary interpretations on all procedures and be flexible with clinic hours and Duke Cardiology Heart locations.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop and implement departmental policy and procedures to solve operating problems and improve patient care. Manage the clinic in the absence of the Practice Administrator/Nurse Manager and be available on‑call for emergencies involving the facility, staff members and patients. Complete timely and thorough echo, stress echo and vascular scans and documentation. Perform routine and urgent echocardiograms, including 2‑dimensional, 3‑dimensional, Doppler and stress echocardiography, as requested by physicians and in accordance with standard practices. Manage Cardiology procedural services delivered in the clinic and implement cardiology related procedural updates and new services. Provide cross coverage in echocardiography and vascular as needed. Prepare paperwork for each study and ensure all necessary documentation is available. Manage various personnel actions including hiring, orientation, performance appraisals, promotions and scheduling; conduct formal discipline of clinical staff. Develop and implement quality assurance programs relating to Cardiology imaging accreditation (IAC) and calibration and maintenance of equipment. Enhance clinic operations and practices for ongoing quality improvement. Collaborate with the Practice Administrator/Nurse Manager to determine fiscal requirements of the clinic; submit budgetary recommendations, including necessary nursing personnel and patient care materials. Identify clinical operational needs; manage appropriate level of equipment and supplies and monitor equipment maintenance. Assess the environment and recommend improvements to ensure optimal patient comfort, safety and compliance with regulatory bodies (OSHA, JCAHO, etc.). Enforce regulatory and compliance requirements (HIPAA, JCAHO, etc.). Accountable for understanding, enforcing and following all internal controls, particularly as they relate to cash management policies and procedures. Develop, coordinate and participate in training programs in ambulatory clinical cardiology. Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

JOB ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's degree in biology, physiology, psychology or a related scientific field. Four years of clinical technical experience in the principles, theories, procedures and equipment of cardiac imaging; cardiology experience preferred. Certification in both echocardiography and vascular ultrasound. Prefer certifications from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI), including Adult Echocardiography (RDCS or RCS) or Advanced Cardiac Sonographer (ACS). Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred depending on clinic needs.

JOB HOURS

The schedule for this position is day shifts, Monday‑Friday, with no weekends or holidays.
