Role Summary and Qualifications

The Clinical Nurse Coordinator (CNC) is responsible for ensuring high-quality, patient-centered care and coordinating all activities within the unit or department during their assigned shift. Working closely with other management team members, the CNC directs, monitors, and assesses nursing care in line with established policies and procedures. They serve as a resource for staff and exemplify the organization’s vision, mission, and values to enhance patient experiences and clinical outcomes, contributing to overall departmental performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitates admission and discharge processes to ensure efficient patient flow and high-quality care.
  • Engages in ongoing assessments of the quality of patient care services in collaboration with management.
  • Works with subject matter experts and other managers to foster a collaborative environment that enhances outcomes and service quality.
  • Promotes a patient-first approach and participates in service recovery when necessary.
  • Contributes to improving staff engagement by implementing current nursing strategies, including employee rounding and hourly check-ins.
  • Provides input on interviewing, selecting, and training new staff, and recommends actions related to training, conflict resolution, policy compliance, performance evaluations, and disciplinary measures.
  • Assists with staff scheduling and manages labor aspects in accordance with patient care needs and productivity standards.
  • Ensures proper inventory management and assists with the oversight of supplies and equipment.

Qualifications Required:

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within one year of starting employment.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification must be acquired within 30 days of employment.
  • Must be a Registered Nurse.
  • A Bachelor’s Degree or an Associate Degree in nursing is required.
