Position Summary Temporary Part‑time, adjunct faculty member to teach one or more courses for Fall 2026. The position primarily involves face‑to‑face instruction with possible remote delivery of courses. Courses include: ELTR 2605 – Photovoltaics : Introduction to photovoltaics fundamentals, market analysis, solar resource, electrical PV principles, module fundamentals, system components, types of systems, site assessment, system applications, energy production analysis, and best‑practice code‑compliant practices including mounting, wiring, and interconnecting systems to the utility. CNST 1160 – Plumbing Theory : Occupational introductions, human relations, safety, tools and equipment used in the plumbing trade, plumbing components, sizes of residential and commercial plumbing systems, pipe fittings, pipe joining, and cost estimation. CNST 1220 – Construction Project Management 1 : Introduction to residential building construction‑site observation, quantity surveying, cost analysis, subcontractor and material price solicitation, and tabulation for a total bid price. ARCH 1130 – Sketching Workshop : Introduction to sketching strategies and techniques using various media through instructor demonstration, experimentation, and coaching. Students practice sketching in studio and on location and prepare for a group gallery show. WOOD 1110 – Introduction to the Fine Art of Woodworking : Using wood to realize design ideas by designing and building a small table, selecting wood, milling techniques, mortise and tenon joinery, edge gluing, surface preparation, and applying water‑based finish with safe use of shop equipment. CADT 171 – Computer Modeling 3D Printing : Introduction to computer programs used for 3D printing, including import/export of CAD data and generation of STL files and material selection for applications. Base salary : $1,135.26 to $1,227.89 per credit hour, depending on qualifications. Benefits Adjunct faculty may be eligible to receive certain UNM benefits in some cases. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree AND professional experience in the field or subfield for which teaching is sought, with coursework at least one level above the courses to be taught. Or testable experience equivalent to the degree that qualifies an instructor for instruction. Preferred Qualifications Successful teaching experience in a post‑secondary institution, particularly a community college. Demonstrated commitment to cultivating an understanding of the cultures of New Mexico and supporting UNM’s mission to serve local and global communities. Strong working knowledge of construction site safety practices, including OSHA standards (OSHA 10 or 30 preferred). Ability to teach foundational and intermediate techniques across multiple trades. Familiarity with building codes, permitting processes, and industry best practices (local code knowledge a plus). Willingness to coordinate with program faculty on curriculum alignment, shop scheduling, and equipment use.
