Mechanical project engineer

job summary:
Growing manufacturer in St. Louis is seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Engineer to add to their team. The ideal candidate will have a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and at least 5 years of experience in manufacturing. Proficiency with Solidworks for 3D CAD/Solidworks required as well as experience designing precision machine parts. Familiarity with machine components including servo motors and gearboxes, linear guides, hydraulic systms and PLCs a plus. Previous machine design experience a plus! responsibilities:

• Work with a team to design custom hydraulic equipment from concept to production

• Solve complex engineering problems using innovation and mechanical aptitude

• Perform structural analysis and testing on machine frames

• Manage projects, including: interfacing with customers, specifying components for purchase and generating and managing timelines.

• Participate in startup and commissioning of machinery (10% travel, one week at a time once or twice yearly)

Requirements:

• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from accredited university

• At least 5 years of experience in a similar role in manufacturing Proficiency in 3D CAD software - Solidworks preferred

• Familiarity with machine components including power transmission, linear guides, pneumatic or hydraulic systems, PLCs and sensors

• Travel 10% to customers for commissioning - about 2 weeks per year
