Tax Senior

Pulakos CPAs, a local and independent CPA firm in Albuquerque, NM, has been servicing New Mexico businesses for over 65 years. We are seeking a talented and motivated Tax Senior to join our team.

We have no minimum chargeable hour requirement , focusing instead on client service and working as a team.

Job Summary:
This position is not just about data entry or preparation, but more about developing important technical skills and knowledge. 


Responsibilities and Duties:

• Tax return preparation of individual, trust and various types of business returns;
• Research and communicate complex tax issues;
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records;
• Ensure clients comply with IRS regulations and meet their state and federal tax obligations; and
• Review client financial records, income statements and expenditures.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• 2 -5 years previous experience in a Tax Department of a Public Accounting firm or other significant tax experience;
• Tax return preparation of individual, trust and various types of business returns;
• Certified Public Accountant license preferred, or be on track to becoming a CPA;
• Ability to research and communicate complex tax issues;
• Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills and
• Willingness to interact directly with clients while delivering high quality service and helping maintain positive client relationships.

The Tax Senior should be proficient in the following or similar software:

• Ultra Tax
• Thomson Reuters Engagement Manager software (or similar trial balance software)
• Microsoft Excel and Word
