Sales Associate

Under general supervision, the Sales Associate will sell lighting products and services offered by Lightstyles to current and new customers (i.e., homeowners, architects, builders, designers, contractors, and electricians) and in doing so achieve sales goals and provide excellent customer service.

Essential Functions

1. Assist homeowners, interior designers, builders, and architects with their creative, practical, and other lighting needs.
2. Meet or exceed gross margin sales goals.
3. Provide exceptional customer service on the showroom floor and over the phone.
4. Load products into customers' vehicles, pull products from inventory, stock shelves, participate in inventory management.
5. Operate an ERP/CRM/POS system, accurately process orders, and maintain customer communication to ensure an accurate and timely order processing, follow through on the order to delivery.
6. Educate customers about the features and benefits of lighting products to meet customers' needs and wants.
7. Assess customers' needs, guide their product selections, and successfully close the sale.
8. Recommend alternate products based on cost, availability or specifications.
9. Provide customers with reliable information regarding product specifications, product suitability, pricing, and availability.
10. Maintain and enhance the appearance of the showroom by identifying products needed for displays.
11. Coordinate with lighting technicians to enhance retail displays.
12. Collaborate with lighting designers to service customers.
13. Know all product features and benefits.
14. Learn about lighting, interior design, and how to interpret blueprints.
15. Perform additional duties as required and requested.

Qualifications

Education and Work Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years' retail sales experience in a related industry such as lighting, interior design, home improvement, building products, wholesale appliances, or other similar or transferrable industries.
• Experience with ERP/CRM/POS technology or other retail software (preferred).

Licensing/Certification: None.

Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Windows operating system, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email, and internet usage. Experience with ERP/CRM/POS (Enterprise Resource Planning/Customer Relationship Management/Point of Sale) software and other sales tools.

Language Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Communicates clearly, professionally, and confidently with others, skilled at public speaking, effective and persuasive presentations, and negotiation tactics.

Mathematical Skills: Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals in all units of measure, compute rates, ratios, and percentages.

Reasoning Ability: Uses common sense and strong analytical skills along with a strong mechanical aptitude to fulfill job requirements and carry out instructions, evaluate information and protect the Company from liability; capable of applying problem solving techniques and dealing with problems involving several variables; attentive to accuracy and detail; ethical.

Mental/Emotional Demands: Able to meet deadlines and manage challenges using effective problem-solving techniques; requires excellent planning, organizational, and prioritizing skills. Physical Demands: Medium: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Frequently standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, reaching, pushing, pulling, grasping, and lifting. Occasionally climbing, driving, talking, sitting, and typing.

Work Environment: Works out of a retail showroom with moderate noise level devoid of hazardous or unusual working conditions.

Supervisory Responsibility: None.

Degree of Supervision: General Supervision: Normally requires little instruction or supervision on day-to-day work and receives general instructions on new assignments.
