Automotive Service Technician

Job TitleESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.Independently complete basic thorough advanced physical repairs to damaged vehicles, including but not limited to, oil changes, tire rotations, warranty work, wire repairs, AC diagnostic/repairs, some suspension, brakes, and fuse box repairs, and etc.Utilize various OEM tools and diagnostic equipment to make the most effective recommendations for repairs on multiple makes and models.Adequately explain technical diagnoses and needed repairs to non-mechanical individuals which may include employees and clients on a daily and consistent basisAct as a subject matter expert and adequately explain technical diagnoses and needed repairs to non-mechanical individuals on a consistent basisBe able to quickly learn how to evaluate information and data to provide comprehensive interpretation of technical information, electrical components and Advanced Safety Systems (ADAS)Be proficient in identification of faults, error messages, module corrections, etc.Continuously learn new technical information and techniques in e-learning or other training sessions in an effort to stay well-informed with rapidly changing automotive technologyBe responsible for test driving and/or moving customer vehicles at residence locationsKeep team management aware of mechanical and electrical repair problems as they occurAdhere to all company and shop policy, procedure, safety and environmental rulesEnsure compliance utilizing basic knowledge of applicable local, state and federal lawsOther Duties: Job description is not designed to cover a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee. Duties, responsibilities and activities may change, or new ones may be assigned at any time.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:Two to three years of automotive dealership experience OR experience in an aftermarket repair facility as an Automotive TechnicianAbility to operate large commercial vehicles on a daily basisOEM scan tool and/or aftermarket scan tool experience and knowledgeProficient in identification of faults, error messages and modulesStrong automotive mechanical and electrical diagnosis, problem-solving and repair experienceStrong mechanical aptitude and firm understanding of mechanical repairs/servicesAbility to effectively communicate with customers at all levelsAbility to create invoices and reports for services rendered, deliver and explain invoices to customersBe comfortable with technology, including various mobile devices (payments, tracking, reporting)Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask within multiple assigned responsibilitiesCurrent, valid driver's license and satisfactory Motor Vehicle Report (MVR)High school diploma or general education degree (GED)Self-motivated, high energy and a customer-focused perspectiveTime management and effective communication skillsAbility to work independently and in a team environmentExcellent communication, professionalism, punctuality, and attention to detail skillsSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:This role has no supervisory responsibilities.WORK ENVIRONMENT:This job operates inside an automotive dealership environment that may be cold, hot, noisy, and wet and may have fumes or odors due to vehicle maintenance.Travel:Travel within the assigned geographic area is expected.PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds independently; majority of lifting from knee to shoulder heights; other lifting required from various levels.Requires standing for extended period with frequent stretching, reaching, walking and stooping, pushing and/or pulling in an environment that may be cold, hot, noisy, and wet and may have fumes or odors due to vehicle maintenance.May requires some driving and typing.
