Respiratory Therapist Lead Location: 1 CLARA MAASS DRIVE, BELLEVILLE, NJ 07109 Pay Range: $47.93 - $58.77 per hour Shift: Day Facility: Clara Maass Medical Center Department: Respiratory Care Job Overview The Lead Respiratory Therapist oversees all respiratory operations within the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). This leadership position ensures high‑quality clinical care, maintains strict adherence to hospital and regulatory protocols, and coordinates the technical and educational needs of the ICU respiratory team. The Lead/Charge Therapist is responsible for assigning staff to various care areas, addressing clinical and operational situations as they arise, maintaining departmental performance standards, reporting performance and behavioral issues, and acting as liaison to Nursing, Medical staff, and Respiratory staff. The Charge RCP delivers clinical patient care as needed during the course of normal responsibilities. Qualifications Required: Active NJ Respiratory Therapist (RT) License Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association Preferred: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Adult Critical Care Certification (ACCS) Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Scheduling Requirements (non‑exempt positions) Full‑time (Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM) Must participate in an alternating weekend and holiday rotation as needed Essential Functions Assist the Department Educator in orienting new employees, ensuring all new employees are oriented to the shift including responsibilities and duties. Demonstrate and observe procedures in various units and assure new employee’s understanding. Completes chart reviews, QA/PI reviews and other assigned tasks in a timely manner. Participate in planning for Department services. Accept assigned tasks and obtain results. Effectively address clinical and operational issues as they arise. Encourage and complete inter- and intra‑shift communication using identified processes. Provide a compassionate and supportive environment with prompt and consistent service. Adhere to patient rights: provide confidential treatment of all communications and records. Demonstrate professionalism with families, visitors, physicians, co‑workers and supervisors. Listen and communicate effectively. Support teamwork by cooperative problem‑solving through participation in meetings, projects, etc. Utilize principles of continuous quality improvement in all work situations to assess, measure and improve organizational and department functions. Organize work sets and priorities with minimum supervision and seek guidance as appropriate. Make decisions that are timely and consistent with department objectives, policies and procedures.
