About the Position

Job Title: Clinical Nurse (RN) Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Critical Care Duration: 8 weeks Shift: Day Shift Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 3 years acute care experience required License: Active RN License Certifications: AHA BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: ICU experience Description: The Clinical Nurse (RN) is responsible, accountable, and authorized to deliver safe, effective, quality nursing care. Utilizing Jean Watson's Theory of Caring, the RN assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care for all assigned patients. The RN makes determinations regarding patient progress toward goals. This role includes maintaining a therapeutic professional relationship with the patient, family, and interdisciplinary team. Care is provided according to the specific physiological, developmental, and psychosocial needs of the patient. The RN supports the mission and values of the organization and demonstrates the ability to transfer scientific knowledge from various fields. Care provided is consistent with the interdisciplinary plan and grounded in the principles of Relationship-Based Care. The RN assesses patient physical and psychosocial conditions continually. They formulate nursing diagnoses based on observations and information from clients and health team members. Collaborating with clients, the RN formulates care plans that ensure safety, comfort, hygiene, protection, and disease prevention. Essential nursing skills are performed, and health treatments are explained to clients and families. Teaching clients and families how to manage health needs is also a critical component of care. The effectiveness of care plans is evaluated through observation and communication. The RN modifies plans as necessary based on patient responses. Demonstrating current knowledge, the RN uses equipment, instrumentation, and medications safely. Tasks are delegated to team members based on their capabilities and scopes of practice. The RN supervises nursing care provided by the care team. Advocacy for clients is essential, ensuring that healthcare decisions align with client interests. The RN provides culturally competent and ethical care within legal practice standards. This role coordinates patient care activities with other healthcare professionals. Effective communication skills are utilized to facilitate safe patient handoffs. Nursing care is documented according to hospital policies. The RN uses information systems to enhance efficiency and productivity. Meeting patient satisfaction goals is a key accountability. Each RN contributes positively to the patient care experience through their interactions. Immediate resolution of complaints is encouraged when possible. The RN investigates complaints and provides information to management. Additional duties may be assigned as necessary. The role requires physical capabilities including lifting, bending, walking, and fine motor skills. Completion of annual organizational requirements for employment is expected.
