In addition to this, they would be assisting the Dietary Manager in planning, organizing, developing, and directing the overall operation of the Dietary Services Department in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations, established facility policies and procedures, to ensure that quality food service and nutritional care is provided.Dietary Aide Major Duties and Critical Tasks:Their duties include preparing and cooking food dishes, delivering food to patients and assisting the kitchen staff in maintaining a clean, sanitary workplaceReview department policies, procedures, manuals, position descriptions, at least annually and participates in making recommended changes to stay current on facility protocolsInterprets policies and procedures to personnel, patients/residents, visitors, family members, as necessary.Preparing meals, snacks and beverages following specific proceduresServing meals, ensuring food safety and hygiene procedures are followed at all timesTaking inventory of kitchen supplies and food itemsSetting up and taking down dining areas and assisting with kitchen maintenance and general cleaningAssisting with educational programs on nutritionDietary Aide Required Education/Skills/Abilities:Education: Must possess as a minimum, a high school diploma;Experience: Previous experience as a Dietary Aide is preferred. Bonus experience includes training in cost control, food management, or diet therapy. Any combination of experience and training which provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities of a Dietary Aide in a skilled nursing facility. Must have reliable transportation.
