Job no: 539246 Work type: Staff Full-Time Location: Main Campus (Gainesville, FL) Categories: Allied Health, Veteran's Preference Eligible, Dentistry Department: 34100103 - DN-PEDIATRICS RESIDENT Job Title: Dental Assistant I Pay: $16.76 – $18.00 per hour Job Description Assists faculty, residents, and dental students chairside in patient care, takes and develops X‑rays, instructs patients in preventive dental techniques and oral hygiene, and maintains dental records in axiUm. Maintains operatories and mobile stock, ensures regular maintenance of clinical equipment, organizes and controls the use of clinic supplies and medications, and assists in instrument sterilization. Participates in student education of auxiliary utilization, learns new methods through in‑service training, maintains current CPR certification and credits, and assists with answering phones and scheduling appointments. Required Qualifications High school diploma, one year of appropriate experience, and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute for the required experience. Preferred Qualifications Ability to prepare, sterilize, and maintain dental instruments and equipment Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and pay close attention to details Ability to instruct patients in preventive dental techniques Ability to deal with the public in a courteous and tactful manner Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others Knowledge of dental terminology Knowledge of dental hygiene principles and practices The University of Florida is an Equal Employment Opportunity Employer. #J-18808-Ljbffr
