Facility Maintenance Technician I (Part-Time)

The City of Henderson announces an examination to create a consideration for hire list and to fill three (3) vacancies for the classification of Facility Maintenance Technician I (Part-Time) in the Department of Public Works. The consideration for hire list may be utilized to fill vacancies for this classification for up to one (1) year.

Under general supervision, performs a variety of unskilled and manual labor work associated with the maintenance and repair of City facilities, buildings, and grounds; performs related duties as assigned.

VACANCY INFORMATION:

  • This is a part-time, non-PERS eligible position.
  • This position does not qualify for employer-paid benefits, paid time off, wage increases, or union representation.
  • This position requires enrollment in the City's Alternate Retirement Systems (ARS).
  • Work schedule will consist of an average of 19 hours/week. Hours per week may increase or decrease based on Department need.
  • May be required to work a flexible work schedule, outside of normal business hours, which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or extended hours.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduation from high school or the equivalent
  • One (1) year of full-time experience performing general facility or building maintenance
  • Note: An equivalent combination of related education, experience, and training may be considered
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Nevada or "border state" driver's license, as defined by NRS 483
  • Must possess a National Pool and Spa Foundation (NPSF) Certified Pool & Spa Operator (CPO) Certificate within three (3) months of hire
  • Must obtain and maintain the appropriate OSHA card as defined by the Nevada Revised Statue (NRS 618.950)
  • All required certifications as mandated by state and federal laws, or as required by the City, must be obtained and maintained as a condition of continued employment and may be at the incumbent's expense
  • Must pass a nationwide fingerprint-based record check, and a wants/warrants check
  • Must complete Security Awareness and National Crime Information Center (NCIC)/Nevada Criminal Justice Information System (NCJIS) certification within six (6) months of hire/transfer and be recertified every year. Must maintain certifications in NCIC/NCJIS as a condition of continued employment

The assessment and selection process for this position will take place on the dates listed above. All candidates who wish to be considered for this position will need to be in Henderson, Nevada, and make themselves available to participate in the testing process at any time on any of the dates listed above.
