Position Summary

This position is responsible for providing quality nursing care to all patients, while serving as a vital member of the nursing staff. The role involves utilizing the scope of practice to ensure that all patients' rights and dignity are respected. The specific duties may vary based on the assigned areas of responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients across all age groups, from birth to elderly.
• Collaborate with Health Aides to ensure that patient rooms are stocked and checklists are completed.
• Assist in the ordering of medical supplies as needed.
• Screen calls over the phone and assist mid-level providers in the clinic after hours, as required.
• Apply age-specific considerations and cultural diversity in patient care.
• Support the organization's mission statement through quality care delivery.

Position Qualifications

Minimum Education

Graduate from an approved nursing school for LPNs or LVNs. Must hold a current license as an LPN in good standing in the State of Alaska.

Minimum Experience

New graduates are encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to candidates with one year of hospital experience.

Licenses, Certifications, and Registrations

• Current CPR certification (BCLS) is required.
• Must be licensed in good standing in the State of Alaska.
• Current BLS certification is mandatory.
• Completion of an IV certification course is preferred.
• Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certification is also preferred.

Equipment and Tools

• Office machines such as multi-line telephones, computers, and copy machines.
• Medical equipment as appropriate including dynamapp and thermometer.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills

• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Ability to work effectively in a patient care setting.
• Familiarity with the needs of psychiatric patients.

Additional Information

Guaranteed hours for the first week will be 40; however, they will not receive guaranteed hours due to the orientation starting on a Tuesday. All candidates are required to show proof of completed COVID vaccinations.
