Rivas Coffee, Cocktails & Kitchen brings together Latin-inspired food, specialty coffee, and handcrafted cocktails in the Houston Heights. We’re looking for a friendly, dependable, and organized host or hostess to welcome our guests and help keep service running smoothly.

As the first person guests meet, you’ll set the tone for their visit. Our ideal candidate makes people feel welcome, communicates clearly, and stays calm and attentive during busy service.

What You’ll Do

• Welcome every guest. Greet guests promptly, confirm reservations or party details, and provide a warm, professional first impression.
• Manage seating and the waitlist. Coordinate reservations and walk-ins, provide realistic wait-time estimates, and keep waiting guests informed.
• Keep the dining room flowing. Follow the seating rotation while considering server capacity, table readiness, and guest needs. Communicate with the service team before seating larger parties.
• Handle calls and reservation questions. Answer the phone professionally, assist with reservations through Toast Tables, and share accurate information about the restaurant.
• Support a clean, organized operation. Keep the entrance and host station presentable, maintain clean menus, help with table resets when needed, and thank guests as they leave.

What We’re Looking For

• Previous hosting, restaurant, or customer service experience preferred.
• A welcoming personality, clear communication, and a professional approach to guest concerns.
• Strong organization and the ability to balance incoming guests, phone calls, and seating updates without losing attention to detail.
• Dependability, punctuality, and a team-first attitude. Experience with Toast Tables or another reservation system is a plus.

The Right Fit

We’re looking for someone who stays engaged at the host stand, notices when guests need assistance, and keeps the team informed. You should be comfortable setting clear expectations about wait times, asking for help when needed, and bringing guest concerns to management promptly.

This role is more than seating tables—it’s making guests feel acknowledged, welcomed, and cared for from the moment they arrive.
