CNC Machinist - Weekend Shift

Pay Range $47,900.00-$65,900.00 Annual. Base salary vary based on experience, skills, and education. Position also eligible for incentive bonus. Position Overview We are seeking a highly skilled CNC Machinist I focused on safety and operational competencies, responsible for the safe and efficient operation of CNC mills and lathes, setup, maintenance, and inspection tasks, while adhering to all safety protocols. Weekend Shift : Friday-Monday 4:30am–2:30pm, 15% shift premium (Tuesday‑Thursday off). Key Responsibilities Safety Competencies Ensure glove and hand safety. Follow bench and surface grinder safety protocols. Use face shields appropriately. Inspect cranes and hoists, maintain logs, and properly rig and use them. Safely operate CNC mills and lathes, adhering to manufacturer and company safety protocols. Practice proper lifting techniques and recognize trip hazards. Complete safety skills and SED on time; participate in monthly safety meetings. Follow all life‑critical policies and JM Health and Safety policies; use required PPE. Operate only equipment trained for; never tamper with safety guards or switches. Ensure setups safely hold parts before starting machines; exercise caution when running new programs. Know location of emergency stops and practice using them. Maintain tidy workspace and follow safety protocols for all grinders. Mill/Lathe Operations and Setup Start and home milling machines and lathes. Touch off tools, set offsets, determine tool lengths and diameters with tool setter. Load programs via Predator and USB; edit tools and work offsets; set XYZ and Z coordinates. Load/unload workpieces, change tool setter and probe batteries. Perform pre‑production maintenance checks, clean machines, change filters, check coolant levels, read refractometers. Stone machine tables, fixtures, vises, chucks, and turrets prior to use. Setup tools, indicate fixtures, replace or identify worn tooling, use proper collets and holders. Follow and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs); clean machine tapers; verify coolant delivery. Empty chip bins, deburr finished parts, clean raw materials before loading. Grease vises and use DRO to monitor machine positions. Inspection Tasks Understand basic GD&T; measure and verify dimensions of raw materials and parts. Inspect and identify materials by type; use measurement equipment properly. Measure with vernier, dial, digital calipers, ID and OD micrometers, thread gauges. Verify milled and turned parts for quality and compliance; test calibration of inspection tools. General Expectations Perform area housekeeping and conduct shift changes effectively. Maintain a good attitude, be a team player, and meet or exceed run times. Execute non‑routine task lists and operator maintenance tasks. Maintain coolant levels, check concentration, and report maintenance needs. Attend minute meetings on time and provide useful suggestions. Ensure work area ready for next operator and check tools out of tool crib accurately. Minimal Requirements 1–3 years experience as a CNC Technician with emphasis on safety and operational competencies. Strong understanding of CNC machine setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting. Ability to read technical documents and blueprints. Proficiency in using tool setters, collets, holders, and CNC tools. Excellent attention to detail and problem‑solving skills. Ability to follow and update SOPs. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Physical Requirements Lift and move up to 50lbs. Prolonged standing and working on machines. Manual dexterity and hand‑eye coordination. Work Environment Manufacturing plant with exposure to noise, dust, and machinery. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
