Position OverviewSeeking an experienced Machining Supervisor to lead approximately 15–20 employees, including roughly 3–5 leads or co-leads. This position is responsible for employee development, performance management, staffing, productivity, safety, quality, and overall departmental performance.This is a highly technical leadership position requiring significant CNC machining expertise. The supervisor will work closely with Quality, CNC Programming, Manufacturing Engineering, machinists, and tooling/equipment vendors to resolve technical and production issues.Key ResponsibilitiesLead first-shift machining operations and approximately 15–20 employees.Hire, train, evaluate, coach, and develop machining personnel.Drive safety, quality, productivity, staffing, machine utilization, and production performance.Implement improvements involving equipment, tooling, processes, staffing, and workflow.Maintain 6S and support Lean and continuous-improvement initiatives.Lead cross-training and improve workforce flexibility.Prepare labor forecasts, productivity measurements, cost reports, and staffing plans.Partner with Manufacturing Engineering on SOPs and production procedures.Manage departmental budgets and shared resources.Support AS9100, safety, environmental, customer-quality, and audit requirements.Required Experience & SkillsApproximately 10 years of CNC machining experience.5–10 years of experience leading machining teams.Experience overseeing a meaningful CNC machining operation rather than a small shop with only a few machines and employees.Advanced blueprint-reading capability.Strong practical knowledge of GD&T, including tolerances, datums, geometric controls, inspection results, and print requirements.Significant CNC machining knowledge across equipment, tooling, setups, machine capability, processes, and troubleshooting.Strong technical problem-solving skills.Ability to work directly with Quality, CNC Programming, Manufacturing Engineering, machinists, and tooling/equipment vendors.Experience coaching, mentoring, cross-training, and developing machinists and floor leads.Experience addressing performance issues through coaching and progressive discipline.Ability to use and train others on micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring instruments.Ability to interpret CMM output and make production, quality, or process decisions based on the results.Ability to evaluate equipment and process capability to determine whether parts can be produced to specification.Preferred QualificationsAerospace or other high-complexity precision machining experience.Lathe experience, particularly Mazak Integrex or similar multi-task equipment.Technical or trade-school education.Technical background combined with business education.OSHA 10, OSHA 30, or comparable experience participating on EHS teams.Strong Microsoft Office skills.Experience navigating ERP/MRP systems.Leadership ExpectationsCoach, mentor, and develop employees.Hold employees accountable while identifying the cause of performance issues and helping remove obstacles.Remain calm and professional during difficult conversations.Develop machinists, leads, and co-leads for future responsibilities.Be comfortable with change, growth, Lean, 6S, continuous improvement, and innovation.Work effectively in a hands-on, privately held, rapidly growing manufacturing environment.Machining EnvironmentApproximately 65 CNC machines at the St. Peters location.Approximately 90 machines across the company.Occasional collaboration with another facility regarding part transfers, equipment capabilities, and machining processes.Very little travel expected.Little to no customer-facing responsibility.Benefits96 hours of PTO during the first year, accrued beginning on day one.Nine paid holidays plus a paid anniversary day.Health, dental, and vision insurance.Voluntary life and basic life insurance.AD&D.EAP.Short-term and long-term disability.Parental leave.Teladoc services.401(k) match of 100% on the first 3% contributed plus 50% on the next 2%.
