UW Medicine-Montlake-Food and Nutrition has an outstanding opportunity for a Barista. The position is full-time, 100% FTE (40 hours per week) with a day shift.

The Nutrition and Food Services department supports UW Medicine's mission by delivering extraordinary experiences with compassionate evidence-based care, unforgettable customer service, and fresh and nutritious food for patients, families, and the greater community. Position highlights include:

• Independently operate a remote food service area / espresso bar
• Perform routine work in preparing and serving espresso beverages and food items and cleaning activities
• Perform a variety of duties in the preparation and service of espresso beverages and food items

Primary job responsibilities include:

• Providing excellent, respectful customer service to a diverse customer base, in a medical setting.
• Training new or unskilled employees in the preparation and service of espresso beverages and food items; cleaning and stocking duties and departmental procedures.
• Operating all espresso and/or food service equipment and machinery.
• Preparing and serving food items. Stocking supplies necessary for preparation and service of beverages and food items. Displaying food and espresso items in an attractive manner.
• Operating cash register. Handling cash, check and charge payments for beverage and food items in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.

Requirements include:

• Possession of, or eligible to obtain a Washington State Food Worker Card within two weeks of employment AND one year of experience preparing and serving food and beverage.
• Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.
