Sr Principal Network Engineer - Secret

Sr. Network Engineer – San Diego, CA Relocation assistance may be available. Clearance required: Secret (able to obtain and maintain Top Secret). Special Programs access required. Travel required: Yes, up to 10% of the time. Work location: On-site, full-time at our San Diego, CA location. No telecommute option. Responsibilities Use Model-based Engineering, DevSecOps and Agile practices to deliver critical national defense products and capabilities. Design, operate and manage companion, RMF compliant classified and unclassified networks in both lab and field environments. Deploy, utilize, and maintain network management tools. Maintain smooth operation of network and network management equipment during network expansion. Collaborate with engineers and stakeholders to design network integration solutions to achieve mission objectives across data flow scenarios and use cases. Plan and install security patches in adherence to program security requirements. Monitor and sustain target uptime and latency on systems. Recommend and implement system enhancements that improve performance, utilization, and reliability, including scripting for optimizing IT environments. Troubleshoot issues in collaboration with users, sector partners, and vendors. Develop and recommend corrective actions. Collaborate on requirements and planning for network and network management hardware/software purchasing including upgrades, licenses, warranties, tech support and refreshes. Document designs using detailed schematics, diagrams, specifications and maintain system documentation and work instructions as needed. Prepare security documentation for hand‑offs to Cyber Security. Plan and report project status as required for recurring and non-recurring efforts. Work under minimal direction and independently determine and develop approach to solutions. Lift and move equipment up to 50 pounds. Work after hours and weekends as needed. Basic Qualifications Master's Degree with 6 years of relevant experience; or Bachelor's Degree with 8 years; or Associate's Degree with 10 years; or High School Diploma with 12 years of relevant experience. Must have a current U.S. Government Secret clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Top Secret clearance. Must have the ability to obtain and maintain access to Special Programs. Must have a Security+ certification or greater. Experience with network design, architecture, specifications, and equipment selection. Understanding and implementation of IPv4 and IPv6 network design, including IP subnetting and protocols such as BGP, OSPF and EIGRP. Understanding and implementation of network device configuration and troubleshooting (ideally, Cisco IOS/IOS-XE/Fire Power/PANOS). Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Network Engineering. Active Top Secret, SCI, SAP/SAR access, or Polygraph. Professional certification specific to the networking industry like a CCNP Service Provider/CCIE or equivalent. Familiar with network management applications such as Splunk, Cisco ISE, Cisco SDWAN, Palo Alto Panorama, SolarWinds, and Netbox; and with cloud and automation tools such as NSXT, SDWAN, SDA, Ansible. Exposure to the Risk Management Framework, associated security controls, and STIGs. Familiar with Windows, Linux, and VMWare configuration and troubleshooting. Experience with HAIPE/TACLANE and other military COMSEC/CRYPTO equipment and procedures. Experience with complex multi-mesh hybrid HAIPE topologies managed via orchestration tools such as GemOne. Experience with Cisco Unified Communications / VoIP and VTC.
