To be considered as a lateral hire, applicants must be certified in the state of Oregon or have performed the duties of a 911 telecommunicator or Public Safety Communicator for 3 years out of state. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS/LICENSES: Must be able to obtain LEDS certification within 6 months of hire and attend DPSST Telecommunicator and Emergency Medical Dispatch training within 12 months of employment. Must also possess a current CPR/First Aid card or the ability to obtain one within six (6) months of employment and the ability to maintain one throughout employment. DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS: Previous experience in an emergency service environment. Possession of LEDS certification. PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF POSITION : While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, communicate (hear and speak) and reach and manipulate objects, tools or controls. Duties involve moving materials weighing up to 10 pounds on a regular basis. The employee must be able to wear a headset during the entire shift. Manual dexterity and coordination are required over 50% of the work period while operating equipment such as computer keyboard, dispatch equipment, etc. WORKING CONDITIONS : Usual office working conditions. The noise level in the work environment is not typical of most office environments due to communications equipment and other voices.
- Hiring Bonus of $25,000-half paid at time of hire (with first paycheck), remaining half paid upon completion of initial training period.
- Paid Time Off Available for Immediate Use--Forty (40) hours of admin time and Forty (40) hours of sick leave.
- Relocation Allowance--Up to $6,000 moving compensation based on relocation distance.

- Evidence of typing proficiency--A free typing test and certificate are available at Typing test must be dated within one month of application. Qualified applicants must have a typing score of 35 words per minute with 85-90% accuracy. Attach the certificate to your resume for upload.
